I have unfortunately already taught my son that girls like it when you buy them jewelry. Yes, I know this isn't true of ALL girls, but it's definitely true of Jenny (and plenty of other girls in my experience). I asked Evan if he knows what he wants to get Jenny for Christmas and he said "Probably jewelry. She loves it when you buy her jewelry, so I think jewelry would be good." I guess the fact that I had a jewelry site open probably didn't help. He saw a bracelet that he liked on the site, and told me he wants to get her that. It's sapphire with some little diamonds on it. The price could be worse....it's not THAT expensive for nicer jewelry, but still...it's way too much for him to give to Jenny. I'm not made of money. After Christmas we're definitely going to have to start watching money more. Especially after spending a few thousand on that ring for Jenny recently, buying everyone Christmas presents, and with a new baby on the way. Babies are expensive. At least it's not due until May, so there's time to financially recover from our engagement and Christmas. I don't think a kid in kindergarten needs to get his mom a $230 bracelet for Christmas. I need to try to get him to choose something cheaper. But he said he wants to get her that one, because "Pink is Mommy's favorite color, but after that it's blue, and that one is the prettiest. It's really sparkly, like she likes." He knows his mother well, haha.
Evan still has a little "girlfriend" in his class, and he has also decided that he should get HER jewelry. We'll see what I can do to change that. At least if he has his heart set on getting her jewelry, I can get something relatively cheap. Or rather, Jenny can help him find something at one of those cheap little jewelry shops. I don't know what the hell a little girl would want to wear haha. But damn. A kid who's not even six years old yet does not need to be buying jewelry for girls! What have I done?! Haha.
I don't hate Christmas, but I'm not exactly sad when it's over. I'm not a total Scrooge. At least not now that I have Evan. He's still at the age where Christmas is kind of a magical thing, so I like making it special for him. It's just stressful and expensive. I hate the crowds, I hate hearing Christmas music from the day after Halloween until the beginning of January. It's just a pain in the ass. Oh well. It is what it is. As long as Evan and Jenny are happy, I'm happy. It's not a huge deal for Jenny, but she does really love Christmas. I like surprising her and getting her things that she loves. But it's really important to me to make things special for Evan. So I guess the good greatly outweighs the bad. This whole season is still kind of a pain in the ass though. Lord knows my wallet isn't a fan of it.
