I haven't updated this thing in 9 months. Crazy. I have just been really busy, I guess. But things are great right now. I'm almost finished with school, FINALLY. I'll graduate at the end of summer semester. It feels SO good to be able to say that.
Right now I'm a T.A. for my favorite professor's Abnormal Psychology class, and I love it. I have taken quite a few classes from him. In addition to being his teaching assistant, I'm working with him on an internship. I work with kids at a juvenile drug treatment center, and I love it. It's interesting, and it's rewarding. In my personal experience, it really helps to be able to confide in someone you can relate to, who has actually been through the types of things you have been through, as opposed to someone who has only read about it in textbooks. These kids have been through a lot, and I'm glad I have the chance to do something to help them. I know I can't just waltz in and magically turn someone's life around, but I hope that I can somehow help at least one person get clean and stay clean. Obviously more than one would be ideal, haha. I'm just glad to have the opportunity to help.
Evan will be 4 in less than a month. I can hardly believe it. Time flies. At the same time, so much has happened in the past 5 or so years and it feels like forever. Sometimes time seems to go by so slowly, but other times and in other ways it just flies by. On that note, I turned 30 in November. That seems CRAZY to me. I can't believe I'm 30...so much of my 20s was a blur. I'm old now, haha.
Jenny is still doing really well. Her medication dosages are stabilized, and now she just goes for med checks every other month. She still sees a therapist weekly, and it has helped her so much. There has been a complete turn around.
Speaking of Jenny, she'll be here to drop off Evan in a couple minutes, so I'll write more later, even though I probably shouldn't since this was pretty long haha. But it's been a while.
I hope you're all doing well.

Date: 2010-01-24 03:10 am (UTC)That's so cool that you're a TA for a psych class! One of the things I regret not doing the most when I was in school was working more closely with my psych teachers.
