Ok, so this is a really weird thing for a guy to write about lol. But since most of my "
little internet friends are girls" I figured Iy eah worth a try.

I've mentioned before that Jenny gets REALLY bad menstrual cramps. But starting this afternoon they've been the worst they've been for a few months, and she only started her period today (which was very convenient because we were able to have a lot of fun last night haha). Anyway, she called me at work around 3:00 asking me to come home as soon as I could. I could tell she was near tears, so I left right away. When I got home she had just gotten back from picking up Evan from school, and the baby had just gone down for her afternoon nap. When I walked in the door Jenny threw her arms around me and almost started crying. I could tell she was in pain or sick the second I saw her. I could see it on her face. I asked her what was wrong and she said she had cramps so bad that they were bringing her to tears and she was basically doubled over with pain. She had already taken 800 mg of ibuprofen and it didn't help at all. She's wearing one of those Thermacare cramp patches, which she swears by. She said that helped, but not enough. So I told her to take one of my leftover painkillers from when I had surgery. So she took one and is waiting for it to kick in. But right now she's curled up in bed I. the fetal position unable to move. I feel so bad for her. It definitely seems like her endometriosis is flaring up again. :\

So my question is, do any of you ladies have any special cramp remedies she should try?

Sorry for the extra lines my phone insists on adding and for any auto correct typos. I'm too lazy to look right now.

I do acupuncture. Being in Cali, a lot of girls use cannabis. Avoid sweets and caffeine. Omega-3 is a natural anti-inflammatory. And although its probably the last thing she feels like doing, she needs to orgasm.

sounds like a hormonal imbalance which could be fixed with certain anti depressants or birth control pills that helps her cope with it. something to talk about with a doc...

one of my friends has this and the first and second days are always the worst for her.

as for me, it's just dealing with depression... it tends to hit a week or so before it comes. but if something really bad happens and if I get too worked up or stressed, that sort of thing gets pushed ahead a couple weeks or months. it really sucks to be a woman sometimes.

I wish I could give advice but I don't have painful cramps. I know walking like exercise can help and taking water pills can reduce the pain.

I heard ingesting a spoonful of molasses helps (gross, I know). A good few people swear by it though. It's not a quick fix but something to possibly consider for long-term help.

Here's a link for more info on it: http://www.healthguidance.org/entry/12231/1/Relieve-Menstrual-Cramping-With-Molasses.html

I'm sure taking a quality multivitamin or supplement of some form with the same minerals in molasses would help too.

For me, increasing my calcium intake virtually halted my cramps. I take a multivitamin, calcium supplement, omega-3 fish oil and a B complex vitamin daily. Since doing all this, my cramps were next to nonexistent til I started the pill (I seem to be a bit of a rarity when the pill actually makes my cramps worse instead of helping them). Some foods can increase inflammation too, which may be contributing to her cramps. Not sure. It's generally a good rule of thumb to avoid sweets, salty foods and such during this time.

Is she on the pill? That's supposed to help endometriosis from what I've been told.

I don't have endometriosis so I can only imagine the pain she's in. If it's getting worse again, she may be best of seeing a doc. I hope she feels better today!

Hot waterbottles for me, sometimes tiger balm on my tunny. Lots of tea.

Sometimes a bath but you need to be careful. I've passed out with them before so maybe if she wants a bath you could stay with her and make sure it's not too hot.

I also find that exercise helps to make them less bad.
